How God found a laborer for the harvest

Missionary Damon McKillop's love for missions began when he was a young child, as over the years he had the privilege of traveling to several mission fields with his father, Bishop Dana McKillop. Through these experiences, God placed a burden in his heart for foreign fields and gave him a deep love for reaching people with the gospel, not realizing at the time that God was preparing his heart for the day when he would become a missionary himself.

In July 2019, the McKillop family left the church they pastored in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, Canada, for what was intended to be a three-month term on the mission field. That short-term commitment soon became a full-time calling to the country of Belize. Upon arriving, they began pouring into the mission work that had been started many years earlier.

Since then, the McKillop family has grown and entered a new season. Their two oldest sons are now married. Gage and his wife, Esther, have moved back to Canada, while Jayden and his wife, Markaly, continue to serve alongside the family full-time on the mission field. Their three youngest children (Brody, 17; Chloe, 13; and Sadie, 9) are also actively involved in helping move the vision forward.

Belize has become much more than a place of ministry for the McKillop family. It is home to people they LOVE. They are grateful for all God has done and look forward with faith and anticipation to what He will continue to do.

What God is doing in Belize

Since arriving in Belize, the McKillop family has worked diligently to establish their headquarters church in Guinea Grass Village. Over the past seven years, the property has undergone several renovations and improvements. These include building a home for the missionary family on the existing church structure, remodeling a former dorm room into a beautiful school facility, renovating the church sanctuary, adding air conditioning, new windows, carpet, platform, lighting, and a baptistry with a changing room.

Having been raised with an understanding of the value of Christian education, Missionary McKillop had a desire to establish a school in Belize as soon as possible. Today, the school serves students from kindergarten through Grade 12 and in September 2026, another important step was taken as the school began welcoming students from the Orange Walk campus.

In April 2025, the work expanded into Orange Walk Town, where a church is being established as God continues to bring revival to the community. Weekly Bible studies and outreach services are taking place on Tuesday and Thursday nights. We are excited about what God is doing in this community.

The summer of 2026 marked another exciting step forward with the launch of a new branch work in Belize City. Weekly Bible studies are currently being held there, with plans to begin services in the future.

The McKillop family asks for continued prayer for a great revival in Guinea Grass, Orange Walk, Belize City, and the surrounding villages they are connected with, and they are excited about what God is doing throughout Belize.

As the work in Belize continues to advance, so does the vision for the future. The McKillop family's desire is to continue reaching new communities, strengthening established churches, training leaders, and providing the facilities and resources needed to support long-term growth.

Transportation is an important part of accomplishing this. There is an ongoing need for reliable personal and ministry vehicles, as well as passenger vans and buses to help transport people to church services, outreach efforts, school activities, and other ministry events.

Several renovation and construction projects include completing the dining hall, improving the church bathroom facilities, developing a dedicated leadership training facility and administrative offices. These spaces will help provide the infrastructure needed as the churches, school, and other areas of ministry continue to grow.

There are also practical needs including additional chairs and tables, sound equipment, a piano, various church furniture, air conditioners, and other furnishings and equipment needed for the facilities.

Above all, the McKillop family's desire is to see a strong and lasting Apostolic work established throughout Belize. Their prayer is that God will continue to open doors into new communities, raise up national leaders and ministers, strengthen the churches already established, and provide the resources necessary to carry the vision forward for generations to come.
