God’s Calling

In 2001, the General Overseer of a Trinitarian Pentecostal organization in Zimbabwe came to my office in America seeking a home church for his family. After a day-long study of Scripture, I shared the Apostolic message with him and was invited to Zimbabwe to preach to the pastors under his leadership. Some accepted the truth; others rejected it. For the next 12 years, I had no further contact with any of them.

Around the end of 2012, I received a phone call from a man who had been in that original meeting, asking me to return to Zimbabwe. I agreed — but only if I could meet with a group of pastors, not just one church. As I was ready to cancel the trip, a pastor I knew asked if Bishop Phillip Aston from Kenya could preach for me. The next day, Bishop Aston told me: “Brother Riggen, the Lord wants you to go to Zimbabwe. God is going to do something very great there.” The trip was on.

When we arrived in Zimbabwe, Bishop Aston preached the first night and some 50 people came forward to receive the Holy Ghost. Our trip was already a success. The next day, we began a two-day seminar on Apostolic Doctrine attended by more than 50 pastors, pastors’ wives, and church leaders. When I introduced water baptism in the name of Jesus, the reaction was phenomenal — pastors exclaimed “MY GOD! MY GOD!” as they realized the formula they had been using was wrong. One pastor fell to his knees publicly repenting and cried, “I MUST be baptized in Jesus’ name!”

We rented the public swimming pool and baptized the leaders, who in turn baptized the crowd. A seed planted 12 years earlier had finally come to fruition, fulfilling Psalms 126:6. After the conference, literally hundreds of people were baptized in the name of Jesus as these men returned to their churches and shared the truth.

In October of that year, we returned to Zimbabwe and taught the Apostolic message to more than 300 pastors and wives — representatives from every province in Zimbabwe, governmental leaders, and preachers from eight different countries.

That is when A2Z Missions was born. The name “A2Z” stands for Apostolics to Zimbabwe, though it has proven far broader: in 2014 we were invited to Botswana; in 2015 seminars in Malawi drew over 800 attendees. Since then, we have taught this truth in Zambia, South Africa, Eswatini, Kenya, and Liberia — and have received invitations to many other countries across the continent.

As a result of God’s work described above, we prayed for someone to be ‘boots on the ground’ to further train our converts. Brother Jessie Stewart answered the call and relocated to the continent. As a result of his labors, we currently have approximately 1,000 formerly Trinitarian ministers of the gospel actively participating in ongoing training — from Algeria to Zimbabwe.

The fourfold purpose of A2Z Missions is to Evangelize, Establish, Equip, and Encourage ministers across this continent. Our doctrinal conferences spread the Apostolic message to pastors and bishops. Leadership seminars take our converts deeper into Scripture. Missionary Stewart’s online training portal establishes them in their relationship with God. And each country has its own WhatsApp group to provide ongoing encouragement and communication.

What your support would mean for Africa

Our vision is to reach the entire continent of Africa with the Apostolic message. We believe this is possible, and the fruit of our labor proves it.

To reach this goal, we hold two major conferences per year — one in East Africa and one in West Africa. Each conference costs approximately $17,000 to produce, for a total annual need of approximately $34,000. Your financial support makes these life-changing conferences possible.
